Core Modules

The online component of this course is comprised of eight e-Learning modules (approx. 14 hours of learning), as outlined below:

These modules provide learners with fundamental knowledge in the management of critically ill ED patients, which will be consolidated through assessments, and applied practically during the case-based workshops and experiential placement to faciliate core skill development in this area. The fundamental knowledge and core skills developed through completion of the Fundamentals of Contemporary Emergency Medicine Pharmacy (Options 2 or 3) are crucial for successful completion of the Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Practice Placement, which is predominantly practice-based.

Interactive Workshops (Optional)

  • 2 x 2-hour interactive face-to-face or virtual case-based workshops facilitated by a Lead or Senior EM Pharmacist and an EM physician. These workshops will allow learners to apply the knowledge learnt through the e-Learning modules to EM patient cases, to develop core skills in the management of critically ill ED patients.

Experiential Placement (Optional)

  • 1 x 8-hour experiential placement day in our state-of-the-art E&TC, where learners will observe the practice of specialised Lead or Senior EM pharmacists, allowing learners to apply their new knowledge and skills to real-life clinical practice.

Assessment

Each online module will be consolidated via a multiple-choice assessment based on real-life cases.

Record of completion

Learners will be awarded a certificate of completion upon satisfactory completion of the required learning and assessments.
