Introduction to Clinical Trials Pharmacy Services

The Alfred Health Clinical Trials Pharmacy provides a comprehensive investigational medication service, overseeing approximately 300 clinical trials across 19 disease disciplines. Our experienced team of clinical trial pharmacists and technicians expertly manage all aspects of the investigational medication accountability, including sourcing, storage and disposal. We ensure compliance with international, national, state and institutional regulations, as well as best practice guidelines.

The Alfred Health Introduction to Clinical Trials Pharmacy Services course assists pharmacists in developing or refining their clinical trials knowledge. The program integrates evidence-based key learning principles to ensure a valuable and impactful educational experience for participants.

The e-learning package consists of 6 hours of self-directed modules with a multiple choice and short answer assessment.

 

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the pharmacist credentialing component, participants should be able to:

  1. Overview the legal and ethical considerations when conducting clinical trials in Australia
  2. Describe the roles, responsibilities and essential clinical skills of the clinical trial pharmacist
  3. Outline Good Clinical Practice and its importance in the context of pharmacy clinical trials
  4. Define key terminologies related to clinical trials including: informed consent, research protocol, investigational new drugs and institutional review boards
 

Online Learning:

  • Learners will be provided access to self-directed e-learning modules providing education and resources for each credentialing component

Assessment:

  • The self-directed e-learning include a multiple choice and short answer quiz
